Impact

At Pestalozzi International, it’s not just about numbers of children educated—we are focused on contributing to economic growth and social mobility.

Transforming lives and communities

2,700 children have passed through our flagship Future Leaders Programme.

33,740 children have been educated through our Outreach Programmes.

Our alumni are not just transforming their lives; they are catalysts for change in their communities. We are proud that 90% of our alumni remain in their home countries, contributing to local communities and economies. Whether through public service, entrepreneurship, or supporting their families financially through roles as teachers, healthcare professionals, and social entrepreneurs, they are driving forward the development of their regions.

This ripple effect demonstrates the profound impact of our programmes, contributing to broader societal advancements and inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.

Education for economic
growth

"Education is a human right, a powerful driver of development, and one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty and improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability. It delivers large, consistent returns in terms of income, and is the most important factor to ensure equity and inclusion.

For individuals, education promotes employment, earnings, health, and poverty reduction. Globally, there is a 9% increase in hourly earnings for every extra year of schooling. For societies, it drives long-term economic growth, spurs innovation, strengthens institutions, and fosters social cohesion."

Bloom Schools

Bloom Nepal Foundation provides scholarships for good primary education to underprivileged children from remote areas of Nepal. Bloom believes education remains the single most important aspect to guide a progressive society. With this as their guiding principle, they are a charitable organisation aspiring to make a difference to the lives of underprivileged children with undescribed talents by providing them a equitable access to good primary education.

Zam-Ango

Alumni Afonso started a musical group called Zam-Ango Records bringing together Zambians and Angolan refugees through music. Staffed by Pestalozzi the organisation promotes positive social messages such as anti-drug campaigns, sexual health and teaches English

Originally working with child refugees in camps in Northern Zambia, Zam-Ango now delivers a broad set of projects and programmes for the whole community.

GIRL UP

Denise, a Congolese national, has returned to the refugee camp where she grew up, Maheba camp in Zambia’s northwestern province, where she founded the ‘GIRL UP’ group to support teenage girls who have become pregnant.

Denise and her team at GIRL UP give counselling and encouragement to these girls to allow them to see that they do have options of how to support themselves, and that they do not have to give up on their education.

The philosophy of Johann
Heinrich Pestalozzi

Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi believed in the transformative power of education. His philosophy centred on the idea that true education develops the whole person—intellectually, emotionally, and practically. He argued that education should go beyond the mere transmission of knowledge and instead focus on nurturing each child's moral and emotional development, alongside their intellectual and practical abilities.

At Pestalozzi International, we have adopted and adapted his principles to meet the challenges of today’s world. Our programmes emphasise not only academic excellence but also vocational training and emotional resilience, preparing our students to thrive in the modern economy and to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Our global reach

The Young Leaders Programme operates across Zambia, India, and Nepal, offering students a safe and supportive residential environment where they can thrive academically and personally.

Creating Change-Makers

"Pestalozzi has changed my world and I can say you have sponsored someone who will not disappoint. I have tried my best to grab most of the opportunities and I am trying to share those with others who have limited opportunities. Pestalozzi has given me the key to be successful in life and I am trying to help others and make a movement which would represent Pestalozzi at a high level."

Our alumni are a new generation of teachers, health professionals, entrepreneurs, aid workers, and leaders equipped with the knowledge, compassion, and skills to positively impact their communities. We are creating a trailblazing group of pioneers who inspire those in their communities. Our data demonstrates contributions from our Alumni towards all 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Gender Equality

Two-thirds of the children we support are girls, addressing gender disparities in education and contributing to the reduction of early marriages and teenage pregnancies.

Stories of Success

Our programmes profoundly impact the lives of our students and their communities. Over 70% of our Alumni give back to their communities, and many have pursued careers in public service, contributing to social mobility and economic growth in their regions.

The effects of our education extend far beyond individual students, creating a ripple effect that benefits communities and entire countries.

Pestalozzi International is committed to expanding our social impact, focusing on the regions where the need is greatest.

The children and young people who join our programmes demonstrate exceptional potential despite facing significant challenges. Many are girls and refugees from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our rigorous selection process ensures that we reach those most in need, helping them transform their futures and, in turn, the futures of those around them.

By supporting our expansion efforts, you can help bring holistic education to the children who need it most, enabling them to break the cycle of poverty and become leaders and changemakers in their communities.
